Another long update

I know, I know, I've been terrible about getting the blog updated... Here's a recap of the latest...
June 23 was Rich Warren's funeral. It was a really nice service and Rich would have loved to see all of the friends and family there to say Good bye. Emma didn't understand what was going on or why she needed to be quiet, so she and I ended up listening to the service from outside in the hall. She did slip back into the room a few times before she and I retired to the refreshment room downstairs.
June 25 - 27 Dave, his Dad, and our nephew Jack went fishing at Lake Shelbyville. That had a good weekend, but the fish catching was pretty slim. Emma and I tried a Friday afternoon playgroup and a Saturday morning trip to the Children's Museum. Both were fun, but I learned just how much I count on Dave's help when we went out to eat at Culver's (Friday) and Big Apple (Saturday).
This past Friday, Dave got out of work early, so we all hopped on the train to the city then walked down to Millennium Park. After deciding to skip the fountains/splash pad area because it was PACKED we checked out the amphitheater then headed to the lake front. We tried to walk to Navy Pier, but completely underestimated how far away that was.... We ended eating dinner at PJ Clarke's then hopped the train back home. After dessert at Every Day's a Sundae we headed home for a good night's sleep.
On Sunday, we celebrated the birth of our nation with a BBQ at Julie's. Everything was yummy and Emma had a blast! We didn't get to see fireworks because it started raining... But, Emma did get to try sparklers for the first time.
One unexpected outcome from the weekend.... it looks like we may be getting a new car... But, it's getting late and I'll save that story for next time.
