Visits and Projects

The last 2 weeks have been slightly busier than usual... In a good way!
On July 17 (Friday) we got to see our Minnesota family, Pam and Larry, while they were in the area for a wedding. They were nice enough to come out to our house to visit and play with Emma. Emma is in LOVE with Pam!!! We had a great dinner at Sweet Tomatoes and then got to check out "Grove Fest," the downsized summer festival in town. Emma got to ride the Carousel twice, once with me and once with Dave. With me, she said she wanted to ride the "horsey," but got scared before the ride started, so we ended up in a carriage. Dave was smarter and held her until right before the ride started, so she rode the horsey for him.
This past Saturday and Sunday we got to visit with Dave's Texas family, Pete and Judi, as they were passing through town on there way home from Michigan. Saturday night was a BIG family dinner at Maggiano's in Oak Brook... Oh my gosh, was there a lot of good food! Sunday we gathered at Dave's Mom's house for more good food, good company, and game playing!!
On the project front, there have been the "usual" home owner projects of lawn mowing and tree trimming. The tree trimming is a big deal around our house because we have so many older (40+ year) trees. We have also been working on getting Emma's big girl room ready for her to move in. This has required the relocation of our file cabinet and that meant reorganizing our laundry room to make room. Mission accomplished! Her new lamp has also been put together and shelves hung on the walls. Furniture is starting to move around to make room for some of her toys and we are getting really close to her being able to move in. Our goal is to have her in there full time by Labor day. That will give us a couple of months to get the nursery ready for Peanut. Thankfully, the work to get the nursery ready will be pretty simple. Mainly a thorough cleaning and a few paint touch ups.
In other news, we are still working on the last of the new car details. Dave spent most of the past week dealing with PNC bank and a contract issue (they messed up and wanted us to sign new papers) that finally got resolved once Dave started working with someone at a higher level than the branch manager. After a failed attempt to visit the DMV to get the car registered in our name, we realized we needed the help of the bank once again. Our impression of their customer service is continuing to take a pounding. One phone number we were given results in a trip to voice mail where no one returns calls. The other number results in being on hold for 25 minutes with no sign of a human being.... Oh well.... I'm sure it will get resolved, but I'm not sure I want to buy another car this way ever again!
