Favorite things

Life continues to be busy at our house. I am also experience a huge case of "Nesting!" I over did it a little on Saturday with the house cleaning and making a trip to Buy Buy Baby, but I did get things done that had been hanging over my head for a while. We did get to enjoy a really FANTASTIC dinner at Weber Grill Saturday night when we went out to celebrate Terry and Julie's birthdays. Sunday we had our "blizzard" and we all took advantage and hunkered down at home. A few things got done, but mostly we rested and just enjoyed being warm!
In all of the craziness of the last few weeks, I have bypassed several opportunities to just stop and smell the roses. There have been a few opportunities lately that I have savored and they definitely fall under "favorite things:"
1) Sitting with Emma right before nap time. Since Emma moved into her big girl room, it takes her a few minutes to settle down and go to sleep. So, I sit on the edge of her bed and read while she decides if she's sleepy. One of my favorite things is the moment when her pretty little eyes drift off to dream land. Most days it is a really peaceful few minutes and a nice respite from busy-ness.
2) Snuggling with Emma while watching movies
3) Getting to sit quietly and read in the middle of the day (only during nap time)
4) Playing games as a family (Emma is the official spinner in LIFE since she's too young to play)

Days like today have to be on the list too. I've been productive and things around the house have been done, but the sense of being overwhelmed is temporarily gone. It's back to the doctor tomorrow morning, so I should enjoy the last few hours of my respite.... I think I'll go snuggle with Emma!
