Emma had a milestone this weekend that we would have preferred to not experience. She ended up with her first virus... It wasn't too bad, but we are sure glad it's over. Things started Thursday evening with a low grade fever and that continued into Friday morning. Nothing else seemed to be wrong. Emma was playing, eating, and drinking well... The only thing that was unusual was that she was sleeping a little more than normal. We thought the fever was related to Emma being close to cutting several new teeth, but by Friday afternoon her temp had jumped to 102.
I talked to the pediatrician's office Friday afternoon and I found out that there is a virus going around where kids get a fever and nothing else seems to be wrong. The advice from the nurse was strictly supportive care (Tylenol, fluids, and tepid baths) and that got her temperature down on Friday, but it was back at 102 on Saturday. Thankfully, towards the end of the day Saturday the fever seemed to be coming down and it was gone this morning.
We ended up not going to Steve's 40th birthday party on Friday night. We just couldn't take the chance of Emma passing along her bug to someone else or her picking up something else while her defenses were down. We did make it to Ed Kregor's 90th birthday party today, but Emma was very tired by the time we headed home.
Lots of progress was made with house projects this weekend too. Dave finished painting the upstairs bath and got the new towel ring installed. YIPPEE!!!!! This means that the bathroom update is ALMOST done. We also got to mow the grass for the first time this season. It was "fun" this time, but I'm sure that feeling will wear off soon. We have lots of plans for sprucing up the yard and are really hoping to get to enjoy it more this summer.
