It's been a fairly quiet week or so around our house, but there were a few things of note...
On Friday, Emma gave me a little bit of a scare and I thought we might be having our first real tummy bug. There were 3 incidents in about an hour, but nothing after that. Since it was the weekend, I did call the pediatrician and was given notes about what to do. Poor kiddo had a weekend of very bland food and no milk until Saturday night, but she has been fine since then.
Saturday found Dave over at his parents helping to put up a small storage shed. Since the storage buildings were on sale at Menard's, we ended up going over there and bought one too. Once it's put up behind the garage, it will be really nice because some of the larger and less frequently used items and seasonal items will be able to move out of the garage and into the storage unit. That will give us a little more room throughout the house. WOO HOO!
Sunday was my first DAR meeting of the year. They are always enjoyable, but they fall right in the middle of the day which makes it seem like the day just slips away. Emma had a grandparent day on Sunday. Dave's Dad came over for a little while to help get our storage building picked up and the pieces stored in the garage. He and Dave also started site prep behind the garage. While I was at my meeting, Dave and Emma went over to his parents for a little while so Dave could then go get his haircut. We also ended up talking to my parents via Skype, which Emma loves. Unfortunately, she also loves pushing buttons on the computer and ended up hanging up on Mom and Dad and shutting down the computer! All of the "busy" made the weekend just fly by and Monday got here way too fast.
Today was Emma's first Park District class... We went to a 40 minute Tot Rock class. It was a fun session! There were about 15 kids and parents/caregivers in the group and we had great time watching the kids play, helping them play with musical instruments, sing nursery rhymes, and dance. We have 5 more Tot Rock classes this fall. If Emma continues to have fun, we will look into another class in the spring.
We've made a few changes to the weekday routine around here, mainly more time with the TV turned off. I'm not sure if it's the changes we've made or if it's just where Emma is on the developmental curve, but she has become much more affectionate lately and has been adding more words to the vocabulary. The newest additions are "apple juice" and "blueberries." Good luck understanding her if you don't know what she's going for, but it's neat to see her try. Emma has also continues to try using the potty, but we still aren't really pushing the issue.
